Werner Heisenberg (1901-1976) Scientific Truth

"When we learn that the principles of conservation of energy, charge, etc., have a quite universal character, that they apply in all branches of physics and that they result from the symmetry inherent in the fundamental laws, then we are tempted to say that symmetry is a decisive element in the plan on which nature has been created. In saying this I am fully aware that the words 'plan' and 'created' are taken from the realm of human experience and that they are metaphors at best. But it is quite easy to see that everyday language must necessarily fall short here. I suppose that is all I can say about my own conception of scientific truth."
